Bowl For Kids’ Sake 2020

Big Brothers Big Sisters Services, Inc. Hosts Bowl For Kids’ Sake: The agency’s largest and longest-running fundraiser each year since the 1980s

Winston-Salem, NC– On March 6 and March 7 Big Brothers Big Sisters Services will host the agency’s largest and longest-running fundraiser of the year, Bowl For Kids’ Sake, at AMF League on Jonestown Road. The fundraiser supports the agency’s programming, family intake services, volunteer training, and COUL (club of unmatched littles) activities. The agency recently moved into a renovated, state of the art building that allows their services to reach more children, their families, and the community.

Reynolds American Inc., a major corporation in town, has been the top corporate sponsor for many years. Additional sponsors include BB&T, Mebane Foundation, Landmark, First Bank, Image Works, Ingersoll Rand, Womble Bond Dickinson, A-1 Self Storage, Learfield|IMG College, Stimmel, and WC Construction.

“Bowl For Kids’ Sake relies on sponsorships, teams, and individuals to raise dollars each year”, says Shawan Gabriel, President, and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters Services, Inc. “Without this fundraiser, it would be difficult to provide mentorship to over 700 children in our community. Our goal is $150,000 this year and we are nearing the finish line.”

Big Brothers Big Sisters Services provides mentorship through their traditional Community-Based and Site-Based programs, focusing on pairing adult mentors with children for one-to-one mentoring relationships.  The agency also provides group mentoring at local elementary schools, mentoring programs at local middle schools, along with group activities and seminars at their new mentoring center.

Shawan Gabriel shares “Several community partners utilize our new space, providing broader awareness of our services and the need for more mentors to the greater community.”
